ROANE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said two people died after a car drove off the road and hit a tree in Roane County Tuesday evening.
Officials said the car was driving east on Harriman Highway before it drove off the right side of the road. It then went down an embankment, hit a tree and turned over. It then stopped moving in a creek before catching fire, according to a THP report.
Authorities identified the two victims as Melissa Giles, 44, from Oliver Springs and Jesse Lowe, 28, from Harriman.
They said the crash happened around 5:52 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Harriman Highway and Old Hen Valley Road.
