KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Sept. 30, an East Tennessee family changed forever. Roger Grenier, a motorcyclist, was fatally struck on Rutledge Pike. He left behind a family and his widow. Melissa Grenier said they were together for around 13 years.
"He was solid, he was true. If he said he was going to do something, he did it. That might have taken him a little bit, but he'd get it done," she said. "It was one week shy of our seventh wedding anniversary."
The Knox County Sheriff's Office said Roger was killed after a car hit him and did not stop. Deputies said the car likely had front-end damage.
"I saw the lights flashing, then I knew. I knew he was gone," said Melissa. "I'm a strong believer in what what happens in the dark will come to light. Even the smallest little detail, could be something, it could be nothing. But we have no clue who this person is, or what kind of car it is."
KCSO said no suspect has been identified in the fatal hit-and-run crash. Melissa said the driver did more than kill her husband — it changed her life.
"They took my life from me. Sept. 30, 2023, 3 a.m. in the morning," she said. "I don't want to come out, I don't want to do anything. I want my husband back, and I can't have him back."
