FARRAGUT, Tenn. — Hundreds of people gathered along Kingston Pike Thursday morning to watch an annual parade that celebrates the Fourth of July.
Farragut's annual Independence Day Parade began at 9:30 a.m. near Stadium Drive and continued towards Boring Road. Before the parade, groups also gathered for the community's annual Farragut Freedom Run.
The parade included dancers, animals, antique cars, bands and plenty of floats. Helicopters soared overhead while groups walked down the road holding banners and waving flags of red, white and blue. Organizers said the parade's Grand Marshals were three distinguished volunteers with the town.
A group of sailors from the USS Farragut also marched in the parade, after arriving in Farragut as part of a Navy program that brings sailors to their ship's namesake locations. That program is the Namesake Visits initiative.
