KPD hosting several events with churches in October for Faith & Blue Weekend

KPD and churches are hosting donation drives for flood victims, an ice cream social, Halloween-themed events, and a blessing of the K-9s.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department will be partnering with churches and religious organizations in the area to host several events for the community throughout October for Faith and Blue Weekend.

Faith and Blue Weekend runs nationally from Oct. 11 through Oct. 14, but the department is spreading out the events throughout the month. KPD said the events were designed to build new community partnerships and strengthen existing ones.

“Last year’s Faith & Blue events were a huge success, and we are looking to top it this year,” Chief of Police Paul Noel said. “We value our community partnerships deeply, and Faith & Blue is an amazing opportunity for us to strengthen our connections in Knoxville.”

Friday, Oct. 11:

KPD will be at Callahan Road Baptist Church at 1317 Callahan Drive to collect items to send to Newport, Tennessee, after it was devastated by flooding from Helene.

Monday, Oct. 14

The Alliance for Community Transformation will partner with KPD to hold an ice cream social at the Jacob Building at 3301 East Magnolia Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m.

KPD will also host a "Touch-a-Truck" event from 6 to 8 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church at 6513 Chapman Highway. People can check out police, fire and other city vehicles while talking with members of the various departments.

Wednesday, Oct. 16

KPD will host a special Halloween-themed event for kids at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church at 2137 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be candy, a cookout and a mystery games for kids.

Thursday, Oct. 17

KPD K-9s will be blessed at Immaculate Conception Church on West Vine Avenue from 9:30 a.m. outside the entrance of the church.

Friday, Oct. 25

First Apostolic Church at 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road will hold a trunk-or-treat event with KPD. The event will happen from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
