Evacuation order lifted after Hawkins County fire

A one mile evacuation order was in place for nearly three hours early Monday morning

HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. — The Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency lifted an evacuation order north of Rogersville at 2:50 a.m. on Monday. 

It came after urgent alerts from the agency about a fire involving unknown chemicals. 

When the EMA lifted the evacuation order, the agency said the fire was contained and did not spread into the connected trades building.

The fire was north of Rogersville at 1012 Pressmans Home Road. 

The agency posted that the Hawkins County Rescue Squad opened its space at 955 E. McKinney Avenue in Rogersville as a shelter for anyone evacuating their homes.

When the evacuation order was active, the EMA said the area included:

  • 900 to 1300 block of Pressmens Home Road
  • 200 block of Thomas Road
  • Presley Drive
  • Golf Course Road
  • 100 block of Elbow City Road
  • Spring Way
  • Chapel Road
