Elizabethton woman back in Tri-Cities following coronavirus scare

Jeanie Hopland is back in the Tri-Cities after initially testing positive for the virus.

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — Jeanie Hopland is back in the Tri-Cities after initially testing positive for the virus.

She was cleared after two tests with negative results and arrived back at the Tri-Cities airport just after midnight Monday morning.

Jeanie's husband Dr. Arnold Hopland says Jeanie is no longer a risk to anyone who doesn't carry the virus.

Dr. Hopland remains quarantined near Tokyo, although he has tested negative on all occasions.

Dr. Hopland says he is critical of the CDC for lacking a proactive plan to help Americans on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

That said, Dr. Hopland said he is just feeling so grateful now that Jeanie is released, recounting the moment he got the news.

Dr. Hopland tells us he has one more week of quarantine before he can be released.

Meanwhile, he is in the process of writing a book about the experience.

Jeanie tells us there were four people in the hospital room she was quarantined to, one of them another lady from the U.S. whom she befriended.

Jeanie says she called her to let her know what to expect as she was leaving and on her way back to the United States.
