Halloween night has a lot of tradition in some East Tennessee neighborhoods.
In Fountain City, Suzanne Gaylon has heard the phrase "treat-or-treat" a lot over the years. For the past 15 years, Gaylon has sat in the Gibbs Drive neighborhood handing out candy to the hundreds of children walking up and down the sidewalk.
"Over the years it's been like around 200 and the last couple of years it's started being more. A couple of years ago, it's been like 280 and last year it was like 348."
Gaylon remembers those numbers because she keeps track of how much candy she buys and how much is left over.
Thursday night, some trick-or-treaters were dressed in some interesting and creative costumes.
"I'm Pluto and I got my costume from Disney World," said Emma Dewalt.
"I'm a Yankees fan," said Emma's brother, Cooper.
"I'm a surgeon and one of my assistants went crazy and ripped my eyeballs out. So I'm blind," said Graham Murray.
As the trick-or-treaters walked through the Gibbs neighborhood, many of them were holding a bag or bucket filled with sweet treats.
Suzanne Gaylon said she and many other adults in the neighborhood enjoy Halloween night.
"I love this," said Gaylon.
Some parents of young trick-or-treaters said they like taking their children to the Gibbs neighborhood because there are sidewalks the children are able to use, instead of them walking in the roadway.
