Update 1/5/17: Investigators have released the name of the man killed in a shooting Tuesday on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in Knoxville.
Knoxville Police believe Michael Nolan, 54, of Knoxville was killed during a robbery. A person of interest is in custody on unrelated charges, but has not yet been charged with Nolan's death.
Update 1/4/17: Knoxville Police said Wednesday that a suspect is in custody in connection with a Tuesday afternoon shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
Police confirmed that the shooting victim later died.
KPD said they are investigating the shooting as a homicide, but have not released any further information.
Original story: Knoxville Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday afternoon in East Knoxville.
KPD received a shooting call around 3:30 p.m. and officers found a male shooting victim in the area of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Chestnut Street.
Investigators said the victim had been shot, then drove himself about a block.
He was taken to UT Medical Center. His condition is not yet known.
Authorities are searching for whoever else may have been involved in the shooting.
