Congressman Jimmy Duncan made a trip back home to Knoxville for an important reason last week. He visited Barnes Barbershop in East Knoxville for his grandson's first haircut.
The Duncan family has been going to Barnes for more than 60 years. Representative Duncan and his son Zane both had their first haircuts in their chairs, and Friday his grandson Zane, Jr. received his.
Congressman Duncan says that a certain wisdom comes from a barber shop like Barnes.
"I've always said that I thought they could solve the problems of the country better here in Barnes Barbershop than in the Congress of the United States. It's not real crowded right now, but a lot of times I've been in here when it's been a crowd of people around and I've gotten a lot of opinions and suggestions and a lot of advice here over the years," he said.
Congressman Duncan says he still makes time to get his hair cut at Barnes Barbershop.
