KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A grass fire that spread to a shed on a property in East Knoxville sent a plume of smoke rising over some of the city on Monday.
Mark Wilbanks, a spokesperson for the Knoxville Fire Department, said the fire happened at around 1103 Andes Road. Tim Woods, a health and safety officer, said two sheds caught fire and spread to the surrounding grass. Crews are investigating how the sheds caught fire.
Authorities also said the fire had grown to around 3 acres in size before it was contained.
Crews began responding to the fire around 3 p.m. on Monday. As of 4 p.m., crews said the fire was mostly out and they were putting out hot spots.
