A University of Tennessee student created an online business specializing in old Vols vintage clothing.
Baker Donahue, 20, of Franklin, created the business “In With the Old” out of his dorm room.
“Basically, we buy vintage clothes, repurpose them and sell them off of Instagram,” Donahue said.
The company’s Instagram account boasts more than 4,700 followers.
In July, Donahue started the company with a friend.
“(We) were kind of bored and we were like "man let's get something started,’” Donahue said.
The brand focuses on marketing, spending time on photo shoots and coming up with creative names for each item.
“Think about who wore this item? What that person was like? What kind of vol fan they were? So this one might be ‘Uptown Bar and Grill,’” Donahue said.
The company started out with a photoshoot of about 50 items that sold out in two days. Items sold for as much as $75 a piece.
Donahue has already had to hire a staff.
“College kids are lazy. I'm lazy,” Donahue said. “It's much easier to scroll through my Instagram feed and say ‘Oh this can be delivered to me in two days? That's what we offer.”
“In With the Old” hosted a tailgate Thursday prior to Tennessee’s 20-13 overtime win in the season opener against Appalachian State.
