The first store in the new University Commons development near the University of Tennessee opened Wednesday morning.
The new Walmart location hosted a grand opening ceremony from 7:15 a.m. - 8 a.m.
The new location offers expanded electronics and cosmetic aisles. It also features a large UT merchandise section because it's so close to campus.
The new Walmart is expected to create about 200 jobs.
Several other stores have also announced plans to open in the University Commons: Publix, Jersey Mikes and UT's official campus store, Volshop. Volshop is set to open August 29 just in time for the first football game.
