Did you see it? The rare sight of a National Guard Black Hawk helicopter flew over Halls on Tuesday afternoon.
No, there wasn't anything wrong.
Guard members say the attention was exactly what they were looking for as they landed the chopper at the movie theater in the Halls community. Sergeant Tracy Banta said the helicopter itself is a great tool for recruiting.
"When are you going to have a Black Hawk helicopter land at your cinema? It's not, so people see these," Tracy Banta with the Tennessee Army National Guard said. "They fly, they see them on movies, but what's the chances of it setting right here? It's a good recruiting tool for these kids."
Along with recruiting, the Black Hawk team has helped with multiple rescues in the Smokies.
The team also said they had just gotten back from helping people in the U.S. Virgin Islands for emergency relief efforts.
Black Hawk helicopters serve many purposes as a military aircraft such as medical emergencies and reconnaissance, according to the U.S. National Guard website.
