New details in Jefferson Co. wreck that left 1 dead and 1 hospitalized

The wreck on Flat Gap Road occurred near Mine Road, according to Sheriff Jeff Coffey.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — UPDATE (9/1): On Saturday around 7:50 p.m. EDT, Jefferson County E-911 received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 2100 block of Flat Gap Road, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. 

When deputies arrived, they found that a 2019 Nissan Sentra was driving North and went off the road, hitting a tree, JCSO said. Two people were inside the car at the time of the crash. A 17-year-old driver was sent to the University of Tennessee Emergency Room where he is in stable condition. 

JCSO said the second passenger, Amber Ellen Trail, 45, was in the backseat of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

"Deputies and Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division are investigating this crash which remains active and incomplete at this time," JCSO said.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal wreck on Flat Gap Road near Mine Road in Jefferson County, according to Sheriff Jeff Coffey. 

JCSO said the passenger in the car died and the driver was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after the car hit a tree. The wreck is under investigation and the driver was reportedly stable.
