A deer hunter found a woman's body in a remote area of Hawkins County Friday afternoon, according to the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said the hunter found the body in the Clinch area on East Pumpkin Valley Road around 1 p.m.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the decomposed body of a white female lying in a creek, Lawson said. Officials said there were no visible signs of injury or trauma, and they believe the woman had been there for one-to-two months.
The woman has a tattoo on her forearm, and has blond or brown hair, the sheriff said.
The body was taken to the ETSU Division of Forensic Pathology for an autopsy.
The sheriff's office is working to identify the woman, and asks anyone with information about who she might be to call the sheriff's office at 423-272-4848, or dispatch at 423-272-7121.
