DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — Dandridge fire crews responded to a call at the post office Thursday after smoke began pouring into a portion of the building.

According to Dandridge Fire Department Chief Andy Riley, crews responded to the Dandridge Post Office on Meeting Street around 2:30 p.m.

When crews arrived, people had already evacuated the building and they found smoke inside.

No one was hurt and the building had minor damage.

Riley said they believe lightning struck a cable, causing a surge that blew out an electrical unit connected to a break room in the building. He said the smoke was coming from the damaged electrical unit.

"Storm just rolled through," he said. "The station's power actually flickered just before the tones went off for this call. Thank goodness there was no fire... just an overload of power."
