DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — The Dandridge Police Department said crews were responding to a "major gas leak" in the Patriot Drive area at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Within 20 minutes, the sheriff's office said the source of the gas leak had been found and turned off. It said evacuations were quickly called off and people could start returning to the area.

The police department said the gas leak was reported in the area around a Ruby Tuesday restaurant. At first, the police departmentsaid the area was being evacuated as crews responded to the scene.
