VONORE, Tenn. — One person is dead after a CSX train crashed into them Friday morning, according to a spokesperson with CSX Transportation.
At around 7:56 a.m., the train crashed into a vehicle at the Evans Street and Old Slag Road crossing in Vonore.
Monroe County officials responded to the scene and reported that the driver of the car was killed, CSX said.
No injuries were reported for the train crew.
Officials have not released the driver's identity.
"CSX extends its deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by this tragic incident, and we will work to support local law enforcement as they investigate," CSX said.
