Construction crews moved forward with the creation of a rose window at the new Sacred Heart Cathedral in West Knoxville Friday.
Crews used a 350 ton crane to install a 71,000 lb. concrete panel to support the window, which will weigh over 85,000 lb. in total.
The rose window will sit above the new church’s portico and measure 15 feet by 9.5 inches in diameter.
The design will represent the themes of the sacred heart of Jesus in stained glass.
The church expects construction on the new $25 million dollar cathedral to be complete by December 2017.
