KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Corryton Park reopened on Thursday morning after renovations lasting around six months, Knox County Parks and Recreation said.
The construction started after multiple complaints about general wear and tear from residents in the area. Visitors can now expect new features around the park including pickleball courts, new flooring, a pavilion and a concession stand, according to Parks and Rec.
"Instead of re-renovating the tennis courts, we converted them to pickleball courts, because most of the people that come out here to play, they play pickleball," Parks and Rec said.
Work is still being done on a baseball field in the park, the group said.
Parks and Rec also said they are hoping to add more basketball courts across the area, including the Powell community.
