Knoxville film enthusiasts are celebrating Black History Month with a glimpse into rare archive footage of Knoxville during the Civil Rights Movement.
The film "Say it Loud" shows rare images of African American life in Knoxville in the early 1960's.
Organizers say this film is a unique way for younger people to learn about civil rights because it's a local film featuring recognizable people and places.
"People can really relate to these images downtown and Fort Sanders, the whole area. A lot of folks that are in these films are still living." said Bradley Reeves from the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound.
The film is part of "The Big Read," a community wide event hosted by the Knoxville public library and the Clarence Brown Theater.
