KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE (1/8):
The Knoxville Police Department has identified a victim who died in a hit-and-run crash on Chapman Highway on Jan. 2.
Arthur Smith, a 61-year-old, was hit and killed near the intersection of Chapman Highway and Moody Avenue, according to KPD.
The department said they've found and spoken to the driver who left the scene of the crash. According to KPD, the Knox County District Attorney's Office will decide on prosecution for the suspect.

UPDATE (1/3): The Knoxville Police Department said Wednesday evening that it identified and located a suspect in a fatal hit-and-crash pedestrian crash from the day before. It said the vehicle involved in the crash was also recovered.
According to a release from KPD, the suspect was found with help from the Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. KPD said investigators and detectives were speaking with the Knox County District Attorney's Office about charges to be brought against the suspect.
The suspect's identity was not immediately available Wednesday evening.
Earlier in the day, KPD said it believed a dark Ford F-150 hit the pedestrian. It said the pickup truck may have front-end damage, and police shared an image of a piece of the vehicle recovered at the scene.

The Knoxville Police Department said officers were responding to a serious crash on Chapman Highway Tuesday evening. In a post on social media, KPD said the crash was near the intersection of Chapman Highway and Moody Avenue.
They said the crash temporarily closed the southbound lanes of Chapman Highway. The intersection is located near a gas station before southbound drivers would reach Sam Duff Memorial Park.
KPD said a pedestrian was hit and killed at around 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Police also said when officers arrived on the scene, they found an unidentified man had been hit and was pronounced dead.
In a release posted on social media, police said they believe a pickup truck driving south on Chapman highway hit the victim as he tried to cross in front of a nearby Walgreens. Police said the vehicle was possibly a dark red Ford F-150, and said it continued south on the road after hitting and killing the person.
The victim was taken to the Regional Forensic Center to be examined and to be identified. KPD said it is investigating the crash, and anyone with information about it should reach out to the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165.
