KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knox County leaders said previously they hoped to have a popular splash pad back open by the time families gather for Fourth of July festivities. But on July 4, the county's Parks and Recreation Department said the splash pad was still closed and repairs were ongoing.

They said the splash pad at Carl Cowan Park has been closed for around a week, as an installation contractor completed maintenance work on it. Leaders said the splash pad was still under warranty. The county said it was told that the splash pad would be open on the Fourth of July.

"If it isn't then we might pursue legal remedies," a spokesperson said.

Splash pads are also available at New Harvest Park and Powell Station Park. The addresses of Knox County's parks with splash pads are available below.

  • Carl Cowan Park: 10058 South Northshore Drive
