Police chase ends with fatal crash in Campbell County Wednesday afternoon, THP says

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — A short police chase in Campbell County ended when a vehicle crashed Wednesday afternoon, killing its driver and injuring a passenger according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office said the chase started at around 1:20 p.m. when deputies tried pulling a car over in the Valley View community. The sheriff's office said the car did not stop and began leading deputies on a brief pursuit.

The chase continued to Howard Road, where authorities said the vehicle crashed.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, according to CCSO. In a preliminary report, it said the car was trying to drive down a right curve when it went off the road to the left and hit a tree.

It said Cassie Miller, 25, died in the crash. The passenger was not facing charges, the preliminary report said.

Additional information, such as whether any injuries were reported and the identities of anyone involved in the crash, was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
