TBI investigating Knoxville woman's death while in custody at Campbell County Jail

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said an inmate died Thursday morning at the Campbell County Jail.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said it was investigating how an inmate at the Campbell County Jail died Thursday morning.

The inmate was identified as Mikaila Cherokee Perciful, 26, from Knoxville. The TBI said her body was sent for an autopsy. At least two other inmates died at the Campbell County Jail so far this year.

The bureau said the investigation was ongoing. Information about the circumstances surrounding the inmate's death was also not immediately available.
