East Tennessee student decks out his grandma's ride with 3,600 holiday lights

The lights are held on by copious amounts of painter's tape.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A student in East Tennessee is decking cars with boughs of holly.

In other words, he surprised his grandmother by decking out her car with a slew of holiday lights on her ride. The student said he got the inspiration from Instagram, so he went to the store and bought 3,700 LED lights to cover her car.

The lights are held on by copious amounts of painter's tape.

"I've driven it everywhere almost every night in December — I've had people honk at me, wave, take pictures," said Logan Collins, a student at Christian Academy of Knoxville.

He said it took him around 16 hours to complete the bright project.
