Maple Hall Bowling Alley will open its doors Tuesday in downtown Knoxville.
The bowling alley, spanning 1,250 square feet over three different buildings on Gay Street, has taken more than four years to come to life. The buildings were vacant for the past 30 years; before that, it served as a J.C. Penney building.
The property was originally built in the 1890s. The space is also notable for being the site of the first baseball field in East Tennessee. The new bowling alley will have 11 lanes. By fall, the owners expect the upstairs level to be completed.
Maple Hall opens Tuesday, June 28.
