Tennessee Highway Patrol says rain may have played a role in a crash that shut down Clinton Highway at Lonesome Dove Road for several hours on Sunday morning.
According to the preliminary crash report, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma traveling north lost control of the car on the "rain slick" road and crossed into the southbound lane, hitting an Oldsmobile Bravada.
Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and both were injured in the crash.
THP and the Anderson County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident.
Clinton Highway is back open.
