At around 7:14 p.m., on Friday, KFD responded to Fort Dickerson Road for a report of a person who had "jumped" from the Fort Dickerson Park Overlook into the quarry.

After arriving, KFD was told that the victim had jumped from the top portion of the park into the water. KFD said the caller reported that the victim went into the water, briefly resurfaced, went underwater again and did not resurface.

A friend of the victim was attempting to dive into the water to rescue him when KFD arrived.
