KCSO investigating 2 possible overdose deaths in South Knox County

The Knox County Sheriff's Office said the two individuals were found dead Thursday, Dec. 21.

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Editor's note: An earlier version of this story stated the bodies were found at a home on Finger Road based on incorrect information from KCSO.

The Knox County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating after two bodies were found in a home Thursday morning on Lundy Road in South Knox County.

KCSO believes the two people died from an overdose. The individuals were identified as barry Paul Burson, 62, and Earmel Eugene Hickman, 57.

The Knox County Regional Forensic Center said it received two bodies from a "singular location [Thursday] in the county." The cause of death is pending autopsy results and toxicology.

KCSO said a third person connected to the home has been hospitalized and is in stable condition.

"Due to the nature of the investigation, we cannot release further details at this time. The names of the deceased will be released once the next of kin has been notified," according to a news release Friday from KCSO.

This is a developing story.
