MARYVILLE, Tenn. — People in Blount County who may face cold temperatures with nowhere to go can find shelter at a warming center opening in Maryville Tuesday night.
The Blount County Mayor's Office announced on Nov. 28 that a warming center would be open at the First Baptist Church of Maryville from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. The church is located at 202 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy. in Maryville.
People can go there to escape temperatures as low as the upper teens on Tuesday night. They will also be given a free dinner and breakfast on Wednesday morning.
Temperatures are expected to stay cool. reaching highs in the upper 50s for the rest of the week. Low temperatures will slowly crawl back up as the week goes on, dropping to almost 30 degrees Wednesday night and in the lower 40s Thursday night.
