BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said Monday it was increasing the reward offered for information helping solve a homicide case that's around six years old. Now, the reward is $5,000.

In September 2018, BCSO said Cheyenne Tonisha Shropshire, 22, was reported missing. Her remains were later found in March 2020 in a field on Old Middlesettlements Road. BCSO said forensics experts at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center ruled her death as a homicide.

BCSO said she had last been seen on Aug. 24, 2018, near a business on Alcoa Highway. Previously, authorities said she was staying in the Alcoa Inn and her body was found around four miles away. Previously, BCSO also said her body was identified using dental records.

In March 2021, the sheriff's office offered a $4,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever was responsible for Shropshire's death.

"Though the Sheriff’s Office received some tips in reference to the case, none of the information has led to Cheyenne’s killer. Investigators continue to follow-up on all leads regarding the circumstances surrounding Cheyenne’s death," BCSO said in a post on social media.

Anyone with information about her death can reach out to BCSO Sgt. Joe McCarter during normal business hours. His phone number is 865-273-5001, the sheriff's office said. It also offers a service allowing people to text crime tips to 274637, or leave a tip online. Anyone who texts a tip should start their message with the agency's keyword, "BCSOTN."

People also also anonymously leave a tip by calling a tipline at 865-273-5200.
