A Blount County evaluation team has selected a consultant to work with the county on its jail overcrowding issues.
Blount County Purchasing Agent Katie Kerr said seven vendors responded to their request for quotation, and the evaluation team recommended Knoxville-based architectural and engineering firm Michael Brady Inc.
Kerr is now developing a multi-year contract with MBI that she will present to the Blount County Commission for approval.
If the contract is approved by the county commission, MBI will evaluate the current jail and recommend solutions to ease overcrowding.
