Crews respond to 20-acre fire on Wears Valley Road outside Townsend, 100% contained

The Townsend Fire Chief said the fire was more than 20 acres large and one house was in danger but was later saved.

BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — Crews responded to a fire in Blount County on Wednesday along Wears Valley Road.

Don Stallions, the Townsend Fire Chief, said the fire was located at 928 Wears Valley Road, between Townsend and Wears Valley. He said it was more than 20 acres large at around 5 p.m. and it put a house in danger. He said crews were able to save the house.

He also said the fire was around 100% contained at around 5 p.m. Although it was fully contained, he said crews would stay on the scene to make sure the fire did not reignite.

Additional information, such as the cause of the fire and whether any injuries were reported from it, was not immediately available. This story will be updated when more information is available.
