Bill Lee expected to move into Tennessee Governor's Mansion in mid-January

Gov.-elect Bill Lee's inauguration is set for Jan. 19. He and his wife, Maria, should be moved into the mansion by then.

There will soon be some new residents living in the grand home located at 882 Curtiswood Road in Oak Hill, a Nashville suburb.

Governor Bill Haslam and his wife, First Lady Crissy Haslam, have called the Tennessee Governor's Mansion home for eight years. But they'll soon turn the keys over to the Lees.

While exact dates are not available for security reasons, the Haslams are expected to move out before inauguration weekend to allow time for deep cleaning and any work needed on the home, according to Lee's press secretary, Laine Arnold. She said the residence is in great shape and not much work will be needed.

Governor-elect Bill Lee and his wife, Maria, are expected to move into the mansion in mid-January, right around his inauguration date on Jan. 19.

The Lees will stay there during the week, but are expected to spend weekends on their family furn in rural Williamson County, according to Arnold.

The Haslams said they are excited to move back to Knoxville when his term is finished. He and Crissy took 10News anchors John Becker and Robin Wilhoit on a tour of the mansion before Christmas.

“I’m about to lose my lease. I figured I would have as many people over before they kicked me out,” laughed Gov. Haslam at the time.

The Georgian mansion is located on 10-acres. There are 16 rooms on three floors, and it's been home to nine Tennessee governors and their families.

Public tours are available on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
