Back to school? Gov. Lee to decide on rest of school year Wednesday

Lee said the state government is coordinating with schools to decide whether students should return in May or in the fall.

Tennessee governor Bill Lee announced Monday he is extending the state's Stay at Home order until April 30.

Lee did not mention any decisions about the rest of the school year, leaving questions about when students can return to in-person classes. Thousands of families are wondering whether students will return in May, or wait for the fall semester to begin.

"With regards to schools, we are going to be making a decision and will have more to say about that on Wednesday," Lee said during his Monday press conference on the Stay at Home order extension. "We felt it important to get this decision about the stay-at-home order in place and to put together this economic recovery group so we can begin the planning for opening up our economy."

Lee said the state government is coordinating with schools and promised a decision on Wednesday.

"We will coordinate that with schools and we’ll have more to say about that on Wednesday," Lee said.
