Authorities not ruling out charges in weekend jet ski death

Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of charging the driver of a jet ski that hit a swimmer on Ft. Loudoun Lake who later drowned.

Authorities are not ruling out the possibility of charging the driver of a jet ski that hit a swimmer on Ft. Loudoun Lake who later drowned.

TWRA said no charges have been filed yet and it is continuing its investigation into the drowning death of 18-year-old Steven Corum. The agency said it has identified witnesses who are being interviewed..

Once the investigation is complete, TWRA said it will take the case to the District Attorney's Office where it will decide if the driver of the jet ski, 18-year-old Chadwick Fedderson, will face charges.

Just before midnight on Aug. 7, TWRA officers escorted a witness back out to the scene of the incident to pinpoint a better location of the accident. Within 30 minutes, TWRA Investigator Matt Majors and assisting officers located the victim's body in 15 feet of water by using an ROV (remote operated vehicle). The victim was then recovered at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, following the arrival of the medical examiner.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Corum was hit near The Cove at Concord Park in West Knox County around 6:45 Saturday evening. TWRA initially said the incident was a "hit and run," but later corrected that after learning the jet ski operator had been on the scene the entire time.

Feddersen and Corum were in the same party and knew one another, according to officials.
