COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that even though 36 passengers were on a school bus, none were injured after it was involved in a crash Friday morning in Cocke County.
It said the crash happened at around 8:15 a.m. on Aug. 23. In a preliminary report, it said a 73-year-old driver of a Ford Fusion pulled up to the intersection of West Main Street and Cosby Highway. The driver went to turn right, but THP said she failed to yield the right of the way to the school bus.
It said she turned into the path of the bus and crashed into it. No injuries were reported in the crash, but the driver of the Ford Fusion is facing charges for failing to yield the right of way, according to THP's preliminary report.
