KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Crews responded to calls about a fire at a West Knoxville apartment fire Thursday and had to use a ladder truck to contain it.

The Knoxville Fire Department said it received a call about the fire at around 5:33 p.m. It was at 2415 Piedmont Street in West Knoxville, and when crews arrived they immediately started trying to put out the fire from inside the building.

However, a release said the fire was too intense and the firefighters were pushed outside. Instead, they used a ladder truck to put water on the fire and get it under control. Then, crews were able to enter the building again and extinguish it.

No injuries were reported, but the fire department said six adults and two children were displaced. It also said three dogs escaped the fire without injuries. The Knoxville Police Department also helped with road closures and provided translation help due to a language barrier.

Investigators were still working to figure out what started the fire, according to a release.
