ALCOA, Tenn. — According to the Alcoa Fire Department, there has been an ammonia Chemical spill at US Foods. AFD is asking all businesses in the Kings Court area and Hall Community to shelter in place and turn off HVAC units.
The department said the smell of ammonia would not hurt anyone, but it did not want residents and visitors breathing in too much of the chemical by circulating it into homes or businesses.
"We are monitoring the air quality in the area as we work to triage the spill," AFD said.
