After nursing them back to health over the past several months, Appalachian Bear Rescue released three bears back into the wild Monday.
"Our mission with Otto, Rollo and Apollo came to an end today with their successful release to the wild," ABR wrote in a Facebook post Monday.
ABR said release days are pretty complicated, but the release of the "Cherry-Os" went well.
The three bears were sedated in separate rooms of the cub house, and then carried into the release staging area. Each bear was examined and weighed, and Otto and Rollo were ear tagged, ABR said.
Otto Bear arrived at ABR in April as a two-and-a-half month old cub weighing only four pounds. He now weighs 104 pounds.
Rollo Bear came to ABR in May as a four-month-old cub, weighing five-and-a-half pounds after he was found alone near a busy road in Jefferson County. He now weighs 114 pounds.
Apollo Bear arrived at ABR on Aug. 18 weighing 22 pounds. ABR said Apollo's surgery site is now completely healed, and he now weighs 103 pounds.
