ID=4374999ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) - Police have charged seven East Tennessee high school students with vandalizing school buses.

Elizabethton City Schools had to shut down bus service for students on Feb. 3 after drivers arrived to find sugar had been poured into fuel tanks and several tires had been slashed. Students were bussed to school the following day after nearby school districts donated the use of their buses.

Police told the Johnson city Press that they charged seven boys who attend Elizabethton High School with vandalism and criminal conspiracy after determining they all traveled together to purchase the sugar. Their names aren't being released because they are juveniles.

Director of Schools Ed Alexander said the district also is conducting a disciplinary investigation.

The damage to the buses was estimated at around $4,000.
