A 14-year-old boy named Levi Saffles reeled in a large catfish Saturday at the Harrison Bay Marina in Hamilton County.
Saffles' mother said it was a monster catfish.
The fish measured to be four feet and five inches long. Saffles' mom also mentioned the fish could not be weighed on their personal fish scale, but they think the fish weighed around 50 pounds.
The catfish is also known as the "blue catfish" and is the largest species of North American catfish. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has information of the largest blue catfish caught in Tennessee. That was at a state record-breaking 112 pounds, caught June 7, 1998 in the Cumberland River.
The fish was released safely back into the water after it was caught.
