KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Viewers reached out to WBIR recently with concerns that the UPS Customer Center on Callahan Drive would be closing soon. UPS said it is closing several locations. A full statement from UPS is available below.
"We are closing select UPS Customer Centers to better align with our customers' preferences for more convenient and easily accessible drop-off options.
We will continue our high standard of customer service through a wide range of resources that are available to our customers, including UPS Drop Boxes, 10,000 full-service retail shipping locations, such as The UPS Store and Staples, as well as UPS Authorized Shipping Outlets & Providers to ship packages.
Alternatively, if customers need to simply pick up or drop off packages, our network of more than 20,000 nearby UPS Access Point locations are available. Access Point locations are available at independent merchants such as local delis, pharmacies, dry cleaners, and florists, as well as national partners such as The UPS Store, Michael’s, CVS, and Advance Auto Parts."
UPS said in a release on its website that it has at least 5,500 UPS Store locations across the U.S. and Canada. The UPS Customer Center on Callahan Drive provided customers with packaging supplies, a place where packages could be held for pick-up, printing options for mobile shipping labels and more. It also gave people a place to drop off packages to be sent out.
A UPS Access Point is also open at 417 East Emory Road, inside a CVS location, that lets people drop off and pick up packages. A UPS Store is also available at 6923 Maynardville Pike.
