GREENEVILLE, Tennessee — At 3:41 p.m. on Saturday, the South Greene Volunteer Fire Department responded to a crash in the 4000 block of Houston Valley Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found a single-car crash with 2 passengers in the vehicle. The car seemed to have left the roadway and hit a fallen tree along an embankment on the road, the fire department said.
"The end of the tree had entered the windshield of the vehicle and was protruding through the left rear door of the vehicle," the department said.
Firefighters used a hydraulic spreader to open the driver's side door to allow the driver to get out of the car. The driver was sent to a local hospital with minor injuries while another passenger was unharmed, according to SGVFD.
"Also responding to the scene was Greene County/Greeneville EMS, Greene County Sheriffs Dept., Tennessee Highway Patrol and Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad," the department said.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash.
