Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park — UPDATE (8/19): One person is dead after a car went off the road on Foothills Parkway on Saturday, according to a crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
According to the report, a 2020 Camaro driven by a 19-year-old man was driving eastbound in the westbound lane. The driver approached a curve and overcorrected, causing the car to go off the right side of the road and down a steep embankment.
THP said the car rolled several times before coming to an uncontrolled final rest down the hill.
The driver of the car was uninjured. The passenger, an 18-year-old woman, died in the crash.
Charges are currently pending for the driver of the car, according to the crash report.

GSMNP said park law enforcement rangers responded to a "motor vehicle accident that had resulted in a fatality."
