KPD identifies couple found dead in West Knoxville

Knoxville police are investigating after the bodies of a couple were discovered Tuesday afternoon in a house on Nightingale Lane.
The home is on Nightingale Lane west of Weisgarber Road.

Update on Nov. 11, 2015: (WBIR - KNOXVILLE) The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) identified a couple found dead in a West Knoxville home on Tuesday afternoon.

KPD found John Briscoe Sr., 64, and Linda Mason, 65, around 4:07 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said the bodies were discovered by the son of Briscoe.

Both bodies were transported to a forensics center where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

The initial examination by KPD investigators and the medical examiner indicated the deaths were not due to foul play.

KPD said both Briscoe and Mason had extensive medical problems.

(WBIR - KNOXVILLE) The couple found dead in a West Knoxville house most likely died because of natural causes, an early investigation by the Knoxville Police Department shows.

The bodies were found Tuesday afternoon in a house on Nightingale Lane.

There was no sign of foul play or forced entry into the home. The bodies were found in different parts of the house. The man, who appeared to be in his 60s, was found in a garage, according to police. The woman was found in an upstairs bathroom.

The home is north of Interstate 40 and west of Weisgarber Road.

Identities of the couple have not been released.
