The City of Knoxville broke ground on new Suttree Landing Park

City of Knoxville officials, along with South Waterfront neighborhood and redevelopment partners, broke ground on a new park, Tuesday, July 7, 2015.

The new $3.4 million Suttree Landing Park will span across 8.25 acres and will be an asset in the redevelopment of the three-mile South Waterfront, said Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero.

"We look forward to the opening of Suttree Landing Park in about a year," Rogero said. "This park will offer unique amenities with well-designed features. It will be a great place where families can spend quality time, and visitors can enjoy wonderful river views. It'll be a favorite spot for outdoor recreation enthusiasts."

The new park will have several amenities including a festival lawn, children's playground, an accessible boat dock, a put-in ramp, river overlooks and parking.

Suttree Landing Park will also feature a 2,000-foot-long section of riverwalk that over time will span across the entire three-mile-long South Waterfront.

Complimenting the park will be Waterfront Drive, a new 2,988-foot-long two-lane tree-lined street, which will give visitors direct access to the park.

Suttree Landing Park and Waterfront Drive together represent a $6.6 million City investment.
