Knox County students with perfect attendance get new bikes from District Attorney General's Office

General Charme Allen visited Mooreland Heights Elementary School to present bikes to 30 students who didn't miss a day of school.

The Knox County District Attorney General's Office rewarded some students with perfect attendance with brand new bikes Thursday.

General Charme Allen visited Mooreland Heights Elementary School to present bikes to 30 students who didn't miss a day of school.

It's a program designed to reward students for coming to school since students who attend school more often are less likely to be involved in crime.

This is the fourth year and fifth school the DA's office has done this at and General Allen said she thinks it is helping.

"School after school has told us how successful the program has been, not only in attendance but also in test scores and discipline issues," Allen said.

Those students also get a helmet.
