Joshua Dobbs back in Knoxville before third NFL season

VFL Joshua Dobbs is back in Knoxville to host a youth football camp on Saturday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — VFL Joshua Dobbs is preparing for his third NFL season as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since the Steelers drafted Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the quarterback always finds a way back to Knoxville to be with his former teammates.

"We always still go to CMA fest in Nashville. We still come to Knoxville for the spring game," Dobbs said in an exclusive interview with WBIR. "We still do those things to make sure we link back up and enjoy our time together."

However, Dobbs will spend time with the Knoxville youth this weekend. The VFL hosts his youth football camp on Saturday for kids age 6 to 16.

Each camper receives an autograph item from Dobbs, team photo and camp t-shirt. The camp is sold out and takes place at the Sansom Sports Complex.

On Friday, Dobbs took a few camp participants to Dick's Sporting Goods for a shopping spree of football equipment.

After the camp's conclusion, Dobbs will return his focus to being the best player he can for the Steelers. As a third-year player, he is getting used to the NFL veteran status.

"It's weird to call yourself a vet," Dobbs said. "Just being able to help the young guys. Mentor them, whether it's in the playbook, or whether it's just finding a place to live in Pittsburgh, you do kind of feel like a vet."

The Steelers kick the regular season off in New England against the defending Super Bowl Champion Patriots.
